I bought this crossword puzzle book for my grandparents. They are Catholic and love doing crossword puzzles, so I though they would really like this bible-themed book. The paper is good quality, it's a bit heavy/thick, so you can use pens or pencils. I wouldn't recommend any fine tipped markers because they will bleed through the pages and ruin the crossword puzzle on the opposite side. The book has a total of 50 puzzles to solve. Each puzzle has a title that tells you the theme (Ex: First Christmas, Gospel of John, Miracles of Jesus, New Testament Women, etc..) It's a large print book, so it's perfect for those that have difficulty reading small font. I am happy with the purchase and would recommend this to any crossword puzzle lovers that are looking for a Biblical themed book.

Shame on me for not reading the reviews before purchasing this book. I would rate this zero stars if I could. I was expecting all questions in all puzzles to be Bible related. They are not. I was forgiving on the first puzzle but when the first question on the second puzzle read, "Lingerie item" (answer: bra) I was done. Unfortunately I cannot return the book as I have already written in it. Into the recycle bin it goes.

General remarks: These ads for crossword books really should show a sample page/puzzle, so we can tell how large the type is and how clear it is for reading and how convenient for actually working the puzzles. Personally prefer larger than normal puzzles but ALL ON ONE PAGE (clues and puzzle) instead of spread across two pages. Much easier to work them that way. Also, what is with all the cross-references from one clue/answer to another? The business about "See #22 across," etc. is annoying! For seniors with vision challenges, jumping from clue to clue and puzzle, across pages, is dizzying and not fun!I also think the ads should specify HOW MANY puzzles are in each book. Some of the books are definitely overepriced for what you get. Also, the PAPER on which these are printed needs to be of better quality than "newsprint"! (And the INK needs to NOT BE TOXIC OR STINK!! Sorry, but I hate trying to do a puzzle where the ink nauseates or causes sneezing fits!)Specific: This was my first Bible crossword book and I enjoyed it a lot, despite problems listed above. Do wish they would forego the sports and Hollywood references and stick more with Bible and at least with common vocabulary/topics that will stimulate our brain. Remembering characters from TV shows or movies, in my opinion, is a waste of time! At least use characters from literature classics, if you cannot make the entire book refer to BIBLE CLUES & ANSWERS. This book is printed on quality paper with nice, inoffensive ink, which I appreciated; but wish the puzzles and clues were all on same page, in slightly larger than normal print. I found the numbers were hard to read; they were squeezed too close to edge of puzzle and were too small. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will order more by this publisher.

I purchased this for my 80 year old grandmother. She is happy with it so far. The crosswords are a good mix of biblical/scripture knowledge along with secular common sense knowledge.My main concern was that it was KJV as my grandmother's choice. Product was as described. I would purchase from this author again.

Its only ok because its not as Bible based as I would like. Granted, I have done only 4 puzzles in it so far, but each of them had only a few Bible related clues. Thats a disappointment. I was hoping for mostly ALL Bible clues with a few other things tossed in. Hopefully no sports or movie references. But no, there is movie, sports, and non Bible land geography and non bible history. What a bummer!

I bought this as a Secret Sister gift for one of the older members of our church. I was able to look through it once it arrived and I liked the fact that it was large print in the clues and the puzzles. I know this is such a great gift for those who like to keep their minds occupied and exercised with thinking about the things of the Bible.

I am somewhat disappointed in this crosswords book. I don't know what version of the Bible is used in these crosswords. I have several different translations of the Bible and can't find the exact word that the crosswords are calling for.

I bought this book for my 86-year-old mom who is not as active as she once was, but still likes to stay busy. She loved it! The answers in the back helped her when she was "stumped". She's finished it and ready for another. She liked the Bible references.

I have had this book before and used it with the children in my classroom to celebrate Chinese New Year. I could not find it in my local library as I had before, so I checked on Amazon and, as always, they had the book. We read the book and then used the recipe in the back of the book to make a very tasty soup with the children ( great science, math, and prediction activites ). The results were just as I hoped they would be - a great hands-on learning experience. The children loved preparing the vegetables, predicting if these truly unusual-looking vegetables would taste good, and eating the soup. I recommend this book as a great teaching tool and a wonderful experience for children.

Each Grace Lin book I get, I am just so impressed by her talent! Every child loves to get their hands into dirt and growing flowers or vegetables is always fun and gives the child great pride to show everyone their hard work and or beautiful flowers!Every child wants to be just the same as their friends, especially those in the neighborhood. Mom and daughter start in the spring to plant their garden and while everyone else in the neighborhood each have their own way of tending their gardens totally different from how her and her mom garden. When their plants appear they look like grass, where other neighbors' appear they look like normal plants. The little girl constantly asks questions as all children do, why mommy, why mommy and her mommy patiently answers each of her daughters questions. When others in the neighborhood have beautiful flowersthat smell so good, the little girls garden has what she sees as ugly plants with no beautiful scents. Once the vegetables are ready to be harvested the little girl and mother gather their wheelbarrow with their vegetables. Later that afternoon the daughter is out playing in the yard and smells a wonderful smell and it's coming from her house! Her mom has made soup using their harvest and her mom gives her a bowl..... it tastes so good! Then there comes knocking at their door and it's the little girls neighbors wanting to trade their beautiful flowers for a bowl of soup. The Mom tells the neighbors about each vegetables and the next spring the little girl notices her neighbors growing " Ugly Vegetables" too!I love that Lin includes a receipe to make using these so called "ugly vegetables" and that she included their names and even sounded them out. Keep up the good work Mrs. Lin and I'll keep on buying your books and singing praises to anyone who'll read my reviews!

This book brings back memories for me as a Chinese girl growing up in Texas. Feeling different. Then appreciating my mother's vision and skills. The brightly colored illustrations are fun, and the story has been a wonderful jumping off point for conversations between my mother, my kids, and myself about culture and community. It's a family favorite.

This was a great addition to my unit using Grace Lin's, The Year of the Dog, as she actually wrote the story as a child.

This was a beautifully illustrated book and a wonderful lesson in gardening! My seven and four year old grandchildren enjoyed it very much. Both love to garden and even help with the weeding! (a PLUS)

Bought this for my 3 year old granddaughter along with some gardening tools, gloves & hat for her birthday because last summer she had a fantastic time with her other grandmother as she tended her garden in the Czech Republic - it reminded me of the photos I received of her during that time. Even though it is about Chinese vegetables, it seemed the ideal book. She loves looking at the colorful illustrations and "reading" it to herself - over & over! My 11 year old granddaughter is a fan of Grace Lin books, too. (Me, too!)

I was drawn to this book for several reasons. First off, I have a child born in and adopted from China and am naturally drawn to books relating to Chinese people. As much as I want her to understand her birth culture I am also learning at the same time. We have several Grace Lin books in our library at home and have loved everyone of them. What I love about this book is that it illustrates how we all have something to teach one another and that through our sharing and teaching we actually become comfortable with ourselves. This isn't just a book about some unusual vegetables, it's a story about people and what we each have to offer the world.

Good for teaching children about diversity of vegetables and importance of both vegetables and flowers.

This was a cute little book for small children. It was also written in a way to expose children to animals. Children can name the animal, and make the sound that the animal makes. We love this little book!

Cute book. One of my 4 year old's favorite current bedtime stories. Pretty good interesting story about problem solving. I would like an explanation for why elephants, horses, squirrels etc. are in the same proximity and for how a tiny bee was carrying all of the object in the story, but my daughter doesn't seem to mind ;)

Such a cute and clever tale to introduce us to many mischievous (or just hungry?) animals. My children and I are now having a hard time deciding which of this author's stories we love the best!!!

My kids love this cute children's book. They request it frequently and enjoy reading it on the kindle through their library app.
