ADVENTURE CATS IS SO COOL! I have a cat that *maybe likes the outdoors. This book gives me the skills and materials I need in order to see exactly what he's capable of! It's a totally handy and useful book and the pictures in it-- OMG, BEAUTIFUL! It's amazing to see real cats on top of mountains. This is probably the best handbook for cats I've seen. And it's not only about taking your cats outside, there are tips for travel (whether in car or airplane) and even just how to take them for walks in your yard. SUPER RECOMMEND for any cat lover in your life! If they don't want to put this book into action, they'll still love the inspiring stories and super cute kitty pics!

Whether you're taking your cat on a walk around your neighborhood or hiking several miles up a mountain, it's written to be accessible for all aspiring adventure cats & their people. I especially loved reading all the stories about adventure cats from around the world — so inspiring!The photos/design of the book are also exceptional. They really pull you in and make you want to keep reading.

This is such a fun book! Living in Colorado, I have seen quite a few cats on hiking trails and nature parks. Wanting to learn more, I found the Adventure Cats website and eventually this wonderful book! The website does a great job providing a general overview of getting your cat used to adventures, but the book really goes above and beyond if you are interested in actually introducing your own cat to the outdoors. I love the instructional chapters interspersed with the "cat tales" of real-life cats, and I am hopeful that I will have an adventure cat of my own someday. This book would make a great gift for some of my cat-loving friends as well.

Not only is this book a brilliant idea, but it really does include all of the information you need to safely/responsibly venture outside with your cat. I loved the inspiring stories of the Adventure Cats that do all sorts of things -- some of them were so surprising! As a "cat lady," I appreciate that this book is busting stereotypes and showing the world that cats really can be wonderful companions -- at home and outdoors. I truly hope it inspires other people to try to think outside of the house when it comes to enriching activities for their feline friends!

Have you spent any time at all googling how to travel with your cat? Stop now, and buy this first. All the basics and then some. Answered more questions than I even knew I had! From simple travel to the vet, to immersing your cat in the wilderness--there's so much to learn. It's super easy to read, and is a sturdy, quality-made book. Only good things to say!!!

Book was cute. Thought it would be slightly more informative rather than stories about cats that travel, although there ARE some good tips here and there. I liked the kitty first aid list for traveling with your cat. Our lil kitty travels and goes out on a leash to walk and potty because we live in the city near a couple main roads. We take her on trips and if its safe she is allowed to run free. She is very smart and listens better than most dogs. More training techniqe and travel idea’s would improve this book. I did enjoy the bright photo illustrations as did my daughter and the stories about other cats who travel are fun to read to her. She is 7.

I'm not even a cat fan, but a friend showed this to me and I fell in love with not just the gorgeous pictures, but the stories of adventure, connection, and healing brought about via furry friends. With the hubs being a feline kind of man, I bought it as a gift and we've both enjoyed reading it tremendously. I can't believe that Ms. Moss has almost--ALMOST--convinced me to get a cat! It truly is a beautiful book.

This is a great follow-up book to “Extreme Ownership”. I feel that it is more practical as well, as the lessons are more relatable for inexperienced leaders. In the course of helping to develop new leaders at my company. This makes it much more likely that people who do not often read books will read them, learn from them, and perhaps continue reading.

I read the book and then used the summary to review and plan for a presentation! It was exactly what I needed.

This summary does a great job at detailing the main points of the actual book. It is broken down by chapters, but also by the military experience, how it transfers to leadership and then into the business model. The author references Willink's and Babin's other work regarding control in excess of which this book appears to be a response to, or a supplement to. I am recommended this vook.

I really enjoy this book. Its an awesome book about the discipline,and determination to become the person you are capable of becoming.The first part is a gold mine of a disciplined mind set. The first part i enjoy the most.

By FAR, the best book in his Great Lives series. I've read them all several times. The reason Moses is the best, is the lessons, insights, and life applications that Chuck draws out of a story that you've likely heard and read several times. If you haven't read this book, I would highly recommend it, although any of the Great Lives books are good to revisit for personal study, sermons, or Bible study material.My favorite part was Chapter 5: "The Desert: School of Self-Discovery." In this chapter, Chuck highlights how we all go through desert seasons where God seeks to train us up, similar to Moses 40 years in the wilderness of Midian and Mt. Sinai. Chuck endearingly calls this God's "Wilderness University" or "Desert University," and describes the 4 "majors" that God provides in his curriculum, as he trains up a man or woman of God. Chuck reuses these themes in ALL of his Great Lives series and applies them to David, Elijah, Esther, etc.The following "majors" or life lessons are:1) Obscurity- God uses obscurity to break down our pride/ego, remove our desire to "be in the limelight," and to be humble/willing to be used by Him2) Time/Waiting- God uses time to grow our patience and reliance on Him3) Solitude- God uses solitude, to give us time to reflect, remove busyness from our lives, and to develop our ability to stand for God, even when the "crowd" or others don't.4) Discomfort- God uses discomfort to develop our ability to tolerate hardship and "be content in all things" as Paul says in the New Testament.

I was interested in learning more about King David, but wanted something more like a "novel," than a heavy in-depth biography. I never seemed to find anything like that, but went with this one because of the author's reputation. Swindoll provides an entertaining account of the events in David's life, using scripture and also lively contemporary language. What I did not expect, but have enjoyed, is that he also draws parallels between David's actions and other Bible events, and also applies to modern life some lessons to be learned from David. I have found these digressions from a "just the facts, ma'am" approach to be interesting and, in some cases, thought-provoking. If, however, a reader would prefer a book that is strictly a biographical account of David's life, this may not be the best choice. I gave it 4 stars because occasionally the author gets a bit too preachy.

I've always admired Dr. Chuck Swindoll's radio ministry, as I believe he preaches the unadulterated Word of God. His Insights For Living are lessons I have carefully listened to and tried to apply to my own life. A while back, I recall him doing a series of radio programs on the life of King David, and I believe those programs resulted in him writing this book.I heartily recommend this book to those who desire a study of King David and his life and times. Swindoll takes his information directly from Kings and Chronicles, and considers the life of David from when he was a young boy tending his father's sheep, to an old man of 70, about to die. Swindoll tells King David's story and the lessons Christians can learn from the most written about person in the entire Old Testament. Swindoll is a list-maker, and in each chapter he provides a list of key ideas or lessons to be learned by King David's attitude or actions that are applicable to believers today. For example, what kind of mindset is required to face down a giant challenge, such as a Goliath? What does it mean to be "A man after God's own heart?" How can a man of faith commit adultery and then have a man murdered in order to steal his wife? What should our response be with our children rebel against us? These and many more questions are asked and answered in Swindoll's book.I am using this book as a nightly Bible study and I can hardly wait to get to bed to read another chapter. I have enjoyed this book so much that I will likely purchase the next book in his series on Biblical characters.I knew very little about King David before beginning this study, and as I come to the conlcusion of the book, I feel I know the general outlicne of David's life so much better, and have improved insights into his personality, his struggles, his moral failings, and his faith in his God. David's life is one of great contrasts. Since he is the most written about person in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit must want us to learn about this Man of God, and learn how he failed and how he suceeded in his walk of faith.This is not a difficult book to read. Swindoll writes for the average reader, yet has insights and clarity that will benefit the church deacon or pastor. I most highly recommend this book as a great starting point to learn about the greatest King of Israel.konedog

Bought this book because I needed some more fluid info on David, more chronological for the retreat I was about to speak at. Wow! Every chapter ministered to my soul and spoke to me in such deep ways. You can almost read this like a devotional because swindoll puts little nuggets in every chapter that will challenge you in deep ways. This book is a keeper. You won't be seeing mine resold on amazon!

My parents named me "David" so I wanted to learn more about the life of the one God chose who was named David. It was a great book; good reading and well organized. Lots of scripture was used to describe David's life. I will probably buy some more in Chuck Swindoll's Bible character series.

From my earliest days of accepting Christ, I have loved Chuck Swindoll. His writing is so clear and the everyday application so practical. This book was no exception. Examining the life of David with application from every period of his life allowed me to feel that God can use anyone to accomplish his purposes.

I ordered this book, after sitting in for the Admin at church. There I read the first 3 chapters and was hooked. Swindoll writes as if he is talking with you in common, every day language so it is easy to understand and a joy to read the story. I love it so much that I ordered one for my Aunt to read with me. So, if you're looking for something great to read and love the Bible story of David, I'd say give this one a try.

This cookbook is truly amazing. Very inspiring if you love any kind of Latin food and want to try making it at home. Personally, I was looking for a cookbook that explained in detail how to make many Argentine recipes (I'm Argentine) that was current and English and this book does that, and far more, covering all of Latin America. I love reading all the history and incredible detail that she provides on each recipe. I'm trying out her Leaping Frog chicken recipe today and all the spices together smelled heavenly as I was dressing the chicken. Excited to see how it comes together.My only complaint -- and I agree with other reviewers that many of the ingredients that she suggests are hard to find so the one thing missing for me is a resources section of the book of where to find these ingredients. I live in Brooklyn and I know Maricel Presilla, our author, lives in Hoboken, NJ so its possible I could go to some of her local stores, or even order special ingredients online but she doesn't give her readers a lot of hints on where to source these special ingredients, online or local to her, which is a bit of a bummer. Maybe she can add that to a second edition!

This cookbook seems like it has plenty of good recipes, but the authors rambling quickly derails the book at every single level. The first four chapters are introductory material, covering "What is Latin America," "The Latin Kitchen," "Layers of Latin Flavor," and "Condiments" which somehow manage to eat up the first 156 pages of the book! The author's musings taint her recipes as she intimately details how Iberian colonists brought ingredients and culinary traditions while glossing over genocide, rape, and slavery as a "complex history." When she does address slavery, she does it so casually that I can't help but be taken aback. In her 8 page introduction to the "rice" chapter, she writes "rice was a rich source of carbohydrates, an important consideration for plantation societies built on slave labor... rice became one of the most important foods in the diet of African slaves. Gradually, rice was embraced by everyone, master and slave alike."With lengthy introductions to so many of her recipes, it becomes difficult to overlook the unsavory aspects of her story telling. The wordiness, counterintuitive chapter organization, and lack of by-country index become secondary to the grotesque narritave she weaves throughout the entire cookbook.

I wanted to learn flavor of Latin America food, so I decided to buy this book. I read the whole book! I cooked a "Tasting of Latin America cuisine" meal, from various recipes of different countries from this book, everyone loved it. Some reviews criticized this book, but I find that if you are serious about learning the cuisine, you can get a lot out of this book.

I saw this book first in my Public Library and checked it out. Ultimately they made me bring it back. Then I bought it, and no one can make me bring it back.I spent a career in Venezuela and Mexico, mostly in the back country, often sleeping in hammocks and eating fresh cooked foods unavailable in big city restaurants (when I had the opportunity to look for them.) I'm now in my late 80s, and this book refreshes memories of foods long forgotten, marinates taste buds, and pulls me back into the kitchen. Perhaps most gratifying are the fragments of history of where these foods originated and where and how they arrived and were modified for the New World tongue.Thank you, Maricel Presilla. This is an encyclopedia of Latin American cuisine and has become my coffee table book as well as my favorite cookbook. I am constantly picking it up, just to read another section or reread a section. I've learned so much about Latino food and ingredients and flavors. I've had it for 6 years and learn something new every time I pick it up which is weekly AND the recipes are fabulous.

This book was a really unexpected surprise. I usually don't read cookbooks, as I tend to focus on the recipes. This book has changed that, it is too interesting not to read it. Oh, and the recipes are out of this world. As a Latin men who loves to cook, this book has surpassed my expectations.

Great reference book with an assortment of recipes from the Latin culture. Some recipes vary from the traditional ingredients and methods used by family. Varied recipes are not uncommon when they have been passed down from generation to generation. Latin recipes are also known to vary from region to region as well as from country to country, so don't let varying recipes discourage you.Overall a great reference book for Latin cuisine with a wide variety of great recipes.

I was so glad to see that the book came so fast. I started reading it and could not put it down. The book is not just a cook book full of recipes but also a history book on latin food.a great description of spices, chilis and flavor building and a like of personal experiences to tie it all together. The book is really big but it keeps you attention if you have any kind passion for cooking.
