When to use posts versus pages, ,create and change posts and pages, manage comments, add images and use the media library, create and manage navigation menus, and configure widgets.3. How to choose, install, configure, and customize a theme.4. How to install and activate plugins and add functionality.5. How to set up and manage an online shop using woocommerce.6. How to update your WP installation, theme, and plugins to keep your website current.7. List of online resources.I do think that this is a good overview for those wanting to get started. It covers the bases with enough detail to get you started in the right direction and tells you where to go for further help. I received a discount on my purchase in exchange for trying the product and leaving an honest review. Too bad the author didn't use the indexing facility in Word to come up with even a rudimentary one.

While this is standard fare Young Adult Fiction and usually I would just move on with my day knowing what problems that genre has, this book causes problems due to being connected to the name Stranger Things. A whole lot of absolutely nothing happens in this book, the standard college kids with a modern view of early 20s in the Vietnam War era. This is perfectly fine on it's own. The problem is this book promised us the origin of 11 and her mother. Technically this book does that, but it takes Brenner well out of character compared to his season 1 counterpart, you still through mind numbing amounts of planning and failing and planning and failing, the amount of political pushing is unnecessary (even for a Nam era novel), and the insane and pointless parallels to Lord of the Rings is more than I could tolerate.It has none of the love for it's references that the show has. It makes me question if the demographic for this show is adults or early teens. I understand that a female author writing the perspective of a female is important, but instead of an adult novel that not only told me the story of a struggling young woman and her life in a very troubled era of this country while being experimented on (though she not only signed up for this she pretended to be someone else to get into the program in the first place), mostly I got a very anachronistic heist novel that needed to make sure I understood what inclusivity is. Inclusion is important, but berating me with it helps no one.I forgot that the point of the book was to tell us about the MK-Ultra Program because 50% of it was making elaborate plans that never work out and that we know never work out cause we've seen the show.The part where we find out how 11 got to be where she is now is literally in the last chapter. Just skip to there cause it's the only bit worth reading. I cannot believe how disappointing this novel was.

While I loved the show, this prequel provides many things I was craving: more exploration of the world, Stephen King-esque homages, and—above all—a great cast of women characters!

This was an absolutely brilliant read. As someone who is obsessed with Stranger Things, as well as everything that inspired it, I was both excited and nervous about this new novel. My fears were set aside from the moment I began reading. The author, Gwenda Bond, achieved everything that made the original series so great while at the same time adding her own unique flairs and ideas to the story and its characters. What I respected the most was her ability to tell a story of her own without disregarding what we've already known from the show. It's clear that she has honored what the television show presented and then added to it.The characters were engaging, the story captivating on multiple levels, and it answered many questions about the Stranger Things and Hawkins mythology without taking away its mystery and mystique. Something else that I appreciated about this novel was bring full circle a character that many series-viewers including myself had written off, not showing any particular care or interest in: 008 or Kali.I, like many others, did not take well the much debated seventh episode of Season 2. The character addition of Kali was one of the those reasons. Many viewers like myself didn't connect with her, didn't like or respect her character, and didn't see the point of her being there. One of the many questions I had watching the show was "Why did Eleven go all this way to find her mother only the leave her right after to find this mysterious girl?" Bond offers a brilliant reasoning. In her writing she was able to bring the characters of Kali and Terry Ives together in a stunning, beautiful, and almost tragic way. It makes one look at Episode 7 of Season 2 and the character of Kali in a much different way.What struck me most was Bond's ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. Having seen the show, the reader knows all too well what happens to Terry Ives, Dr. Brenner, Kali, and eventually Baby Jane or Eleven. But Bond holds our attention, and has us holding out hope that things will still turn out okay. The end result is a tragic tale that can at times bring a tear to your eye.What I also appreciated about "Suspicious Minds" was how it introduces readers to a new world. While the television show focuses on the 80's and the Reagan era, this novel brings us to the late 60's/early 70's Nixon and Vietnam era -- something that was only hinted at in the show. Bond accomplishes what the show did so successfully -- bring the reader into the world in which it is set, providing entertainment and the occasional history lesson.This is a brilliant addition to the Stranger Things story. It is a must read for any fan. Even if you have not watched the show, the book itself is still a wonderful read and it is easy to follow so well that you won't find yourself lost if you've never seen an episode of Stranger Things. I am looking forward not just to what future Stranger Things novels will reveal (such as the recently announce "Darkness on the Edge of Town" novel expected this June), but digging deeper into the work of Gwenda Bond. This novel has made me a fan! Thank you, Gwenda!

Pretty cool. Author obviously went to great lengths to make sure plot meshed with tv show. A little slower than I wanted but big finish was worth it. Highly recommended and can't wait for another one.

I'll be honest, I had a little bit higher expectations for the language of this book than perhaps I should have. Whatever I hoped for, this fell a little bit short. But I would still recommend it for any fan of Stranger Things as mandatory reading -- just don't expect a book you're going to fall madly in love with.I haven't read anything else from Gwenda Bond, so I don't know what her usual writing style is. I found her plot and character construction to be a little flat, a little boring, a little cliche. Her dialogue was especially cringey. It read like a book meant for much, much younger audiences. The pacing is uneven. The turning points in the plot are weak. The 70's references are, at times, a little clunky and loud. I was hoping for more subtle finesse with those things.Now having said that, I still enjoyed reading this because in the end, it's still Stranger Things and I still found myself devouring it over the course of a day. I was hungry for more info about Terry Ives and loved, loved getting a glimpse to who Eleven's father was, and why he isn't in the picture in the show. I wanted more about Brenner, and got a bit. I'm curious to see if they will weave any of the threads they left hanging at the end of this book into Season Three, and rather hope they do. The bit we got about El herself was interesting. And overall, it really solidified Brenner's absolute depravity and creepiness, as if we didn't already know.So while this book won't knock your socks off, it's fun and enough dosage of Stranger Things to tide you over until the next season drop. I'll be looking forward to the Hopper book coming out in June!

I LOVE this book. Every couple years I find a book that I like so much I buy lots of copies to give to several family friends. I've already ordered 10 of these and will likely add more. This book teaches children about compassion and homelessness & it also teaches kids that even through they are small they are mighty and they can make a positive difference. I'm giving several to minister friends to use with their children's groups. Great questions for kids to discuss at the end as well.

LOVE this book for young children and early readers. Lots of important messages throughout the book - you can do any thing, everyone matters, big problems can be complicated and each of us can be a part of the solution. Buying lots of copies!!!

The book Black and White: From Snapshots to Great Shots is well written and lacking the usual acronyms you may find in forums and blogs. It took me weeks to figure out what OOF and IQ meant. Regardless, I know there were complaints about how this book (and DVD) were geared toward Lightroom and Nik Silver Effects Pro and their complaints are justified. However, I use both of them as well as Adobe Elements 10 and a few Topaz Labs plugins so I don't have the same complaint. John Batdorff presented the use of this software with some of his own images which he also described how he captured them and I thought he did it very well in both the book and the DVD but it helps if you are familiar with this type of software. My only complaint about the book and DVD is too much time is spent on 'whats in my camera bag'. I have one other book from PeachPit press that does the same thing and it's a waste of time. One thing I don't use Canon or Nikon gear, I use Pentax. In fact I have a Pentax K-5 and a K-7, along with a number of lenses that I have acquired over the past several years and I'm very satisfied with them. And I have no intention of switching to CaNikon because this sort of thing is at best a promo and that also includes the type of software being used. Finally, if you don't have this software this book and DVD won't do you any good. Personally, I like both software packages very much but don't go out and buy it because it's recommended. You will have to determine what your needs are and to have both packages will cost several hundred dollars, something to consider. Lots of stuff out there, do research!

I bought this book in Kindle format and I wish I'd gotten the actual book. One of the great features in Batdorff's book is the analysis of some of his own shots, helping you to actually see his techniques in action. It was difficult to see them in the Kindle version, however the book is a great resource for improving your black and white skills from the moment you click the shutter release to the time you walk out of a store with the print in hand. It is not overly technical and is illustrated every step of the way. For some the section on using Photo Shop will be a great addition. For those of you (like me) who do not have it, it is difficult to wade through trying to apply it to the program you do have. I am an exception to the "rule" and if there was a way to put four and a half stars up there, I would have. Black and White: From Snap Shots to Great Shots is an excellent book to have on the shelf if you're interested in improving your black and white photography.

I own a LOT of photography books, and I mean A LOT! This is the first one that I have read cover to cover............twice! I still use it as a reference on a pretty ongoing basis. The book is very clearly written and progresses in a logical manner covering everything from the what and why to convert images to black and white, to a detailed work flow for getting the look that projects your vision. The book is quite easy to read. The volume contains enough basic information for the novice and enough detail and tips to engage an experienced amateur. I found the chapters on how to "see" in black and white particularly useful, especially when this is coupled with the technical data for the sample photographs. John presents his workflow in a concise, logical manner. He carefully lays out not only what he wants to achieve and how to achieve that, but also why he takes a particular path with a given image. Check out his website [...] to see some of spectacular images he has created that appear as examples in his book. If you are at all serious about honing your skills in black and white photography, you must have this book! If you will use this book as much as I have, you should consider taking it to an office supply store for spiral binding. For a few bucks, they'll slice off the glued binding, punch the holes and snake through a spiral binding that will allow you to lay the book flat and significantly decrease the wear and tear on it!!

Believe it or not, this is the book that got me off my butt and back out taking photos... I even upgraded to the SONY A7. That's how inspirational this book was for me. Love it... it's practical, no BS, to the point, and enjoyable to read. Very practical which means you can get out there straight away and start using the advice in this book. Use it or lose it!

This book has everything I need for a raft trip down the Grand Canyon (which is what I'm using it for). It is well organized and printed on waterproof paper. There are seven sections - Geology, Whitewater Workshop, History, River Maps, Archaeology & Native Peoples, Natural History, and Bill Belknap's Photo Workshop. Each section has a color code on each page which helps you quickly determine where you are in the book. As a geologist, I especially appreciated the section on the canyon's geology. It's numerous colorful maps, photos, diagrams, and stratigraphic columns provide a clear and complete description of the geologic history and present geologic exposures in the canyon. The numerous photos of key parts of the canyon where the authors have traced and labeled the rock formations make it easy for any non-geologist to recognize and learn the canyon geology. The heart of the book is the River Maps. Each map includes river miles, topographic contours, and notes and photos of key features on that map. The other sections of this book are chocked full of photos and information of interest to anyone traveling in the southwest and make this book a good addition to your collection whether or not you have the opportunity to raft the Colorado.

Waterproof book and best book to buy if you're rafting the Grand Canyon. The book includes snippets of history, fauna and flora, and is a map of the rapids, waterfalls and landmarks. It's a nice size to travel with, and a good reference guide to have in the canyon with you.We've rafted the Grand Canyon four times now, and I always buy these books for friends who go with us. Try to find an old edition, as the publishers have flipped the orientation of the maps, and it now makes no sense. The Grand Canyon doesn't change that much over time, so you won't lose much by getting an older book.

This guide was clearly written by people who feel a great connection to the canyon, its waters, its rocks, and its history — and that spirit leapt from every page, transporting me to the the cool waters, sandy beaches, hidden waterfalls and overwhelming geologic formations. The maps are beautiful and detailed. The history, complete with rare photos and passages from John Wesley Powell’s journal, gives intimate glimpses into the canyon’s forerunners and gives you a sense of those whose footsteps in which you are following on this grand river. The geology is understandable to a layman, but not dumbed down. Then at the end is a great surprise — a photographic field guide to mammals, reptiles, birds and plants that is so well put together it would make a worthy book on its own. I have been thinking about taking a Grand Canyon trip for most of my life, but after reading this there is no longer an option of not going. It is time to make it happen. Time to put the book to its test. Thank you authors for your inspiration!

we just got back from our grand canyon river rafting trip which was a great adventure!don't even think of doing this trip without this gem of a book! it definitely added to thetrip in so many ways - it's chockfull of information, all kinds of tidbits of history, and beingwaterproof it's great - you can ride the rapids and keep track of where you are and notworry when you're "sucking rubber" and waves are crashing down on you that you'll messit up. absolutely genius this book. we also love looking at it now to remind ourselves ofwhere we went, where we camped and our family loved looking at it too.super buy!

Very well developed guide to the Grand Canyon and Colorado River rafting trips. Plenty of history, geology, and other contextual information. A lot of text/pictures focus on early river runs (people, boats, and special firsts), which makes interesting reading. Layout of river section is well done, providing a mile-by-mile review of rapids, riffles, campsites, special places, etc. This is the definitive first book to get - you can add other resources later.after reading this book. Highly recommended!

This is a great guide book to have if you are going to be a passenger through Grand Canyon and want to follow along. I have used Belknap guide books to paddle other rivers and they are always informative and accurate. This was no exception and I was glad to have it with me as a passenger. However, if you are going to be a boatman (yes, boatman is gender neutral), you are going to want Tom Martin's large spiral-bound guide. Cuz apparently everything needs to be bigger in Grand Canyon.

I recently went on a private 11 day rafting trip from Lee's Ferry to Pearce Ferry with this, and wow is it good. I debated about buying it, and finally did about a week before my trip. It ended up being the best purchase I made for the entire trip. Even though it's waterproof, I had originally planned to keep it dry. About an hour into day 1 I realized that's a ridiculous thing to try. This book was soaking wet (I actually had to "wring it out" a few times a day) from day 1 to day 11, and held up perfectly. Throughout the trip, this book was almost always in my hand or pocket. I quickly got the nickname "Scout", and became the main source of info regarding upcoming rapids, random history, plants, and animals. When I wasn't using this book, someone else on the raft was. Looking back, I should have bought two - one for me and one for everyone else :) If you are going on a trip through the Grand Canyon, I highly recommend taking this book. This book helped me appreciate the trip so much more, because I was able to learn about different things in the Canyon as I was there. You have to remember, once you're in the Grand Canyon, you only have the information that you bring with you - there is no wifi or phone service to look things up. Now that I am back home, I have this book (and the sand on it) to look back on and remember more about the trip than I could without it.

A nice feature of this book that it tells you what to look for in certain regions. I felt that the bird section was rather weak plus other topics like reptiles You need to buy separate books for each specific topics. When it comes to packing and you need to bring one book, this fits the bill.

The book gives a good overview of the birds and other wildlife one might be able to see in this fascinating country. I think it will be very helpful for an upcoming trip to Madagascar.

It was fairly helpful although woefully incomplete considering the vast number of wildlife we observed that were not represented in this book. We eagerly await Ken Behrens book on the subject, which is due to be released soon. If you are considering the Bradt Guide, I recommend you check to see if Ken's book is out and get that instead. Ken's "Seawatching" is such a fabulous book, I know his new Guide to Madagascar Wildlife will be indispensable. I only wish it had been available for our trip.

Overall good, but it would have helped to have a grid (letters and numbers) on the map and then have the grid coordinates listed for the places such as the parks or wildlife areas. Loved the pictures. Hope I have the opportunity to see many of the fauna when I visit later this year.

Purchased this book for upcoming trip to Madagascar and to be used as a reference book. There are wonderful color pictures and maps included in the book and it is small enough to carry in luggage without adding too much weight.

It is very descritive about the various animals and retiles. It is strictly a reference guide to the various unique things living in Madagascar. Lovely photographs.

I am going on a wildlife tour to Madagascar in Oct. I have read the entire book and belive it will be helpful.I can better judge the book after I get back.

I have no idea what language this map is in, but it is not English. This is the second map I have received that isnot in English. I saw nothing on the description that said what language it is in. A map that a person cannotunderstand is of no use. Amazon should require that the description includes the language of the map.

Good map if you are traveling around Europe. My parents insisted on a paper copy despite having GPS in the car and three iPhones. We didn't end up using it much, which I expected. It was nice to have to look at on the airplane to see what cities and towns were along our route.

It was great to have this map with the details. It is a little tricky with the names being in the native language, but it's actually a good thing since that's how you see the names on the street signs, etc. while you're there.

Great map to start planning that road trip. Actually helps that the city names are in the language of the country...

I''m over 50 years old and was excited to get the map to take on a vacation to the region. However, upon getting it in the mail I opened it and it was fairly big. Way too big to open in the car. The writing and the boundaries on the map were difficult for my eyes to see. Not recommended for elderly or people with marginal or poor eyesight. Sorry.

This map took us through Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. We did need supplemental maps for cities, but it was better than GPS for highway driving.

Wish it was in English and more easily readable

I am never dissapointed with Michelin maps. They are reliable and well built!
