I purchased a couple of these for my nieces for Christmas and they were a huge hit. I purchased this one, "Dog Ate My Mad Libs" Dog Ate My Mad Libs, since our niece just got a new puppy last year. I also purchased "Sleepover Party Mad Libs" Sleepover Party Mad Libs for my other niece. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. Even my daughter, who is married with kids of her own now, still LOVES to do these, so she was excited to see the nieces each got one. These are even a great reminder for me, refreshing my knowledge of the parts of speech, so I am better able to help the kids with their homework, if necessary. These were a much loved gift (they started working in them right away) and I will certainly purchase more Mad Libs for gifts in the future. They're ALWAYS a huge hit!! Very happy with this!

Who doesn't love Mad-Libs!? These are great for road trips, or just anytime we need a really good laugh! Our kids (ages 9, 7, and 4) LOVE these Mad-Libs, and they have learned their parts of speech so quickly! Of course, they always manage to fill the stories with plenty of potty words (much to our dismay)! Of course, I guess we can't complain when they know that poop can be either a noun or a verb depending on the context! :-/ Or, can we??? ;-)

Our twins are now in their late thirties. They grew up doing Mad Libs when we would take car trips. All of us would participate. The stories they made up were silly and ridiculous and we would all laugh uproariously. Little did we know they would become excellent at English grammar, thanks, we believe, to Mad Libs!Now if someone could come up with as fun a way to learn lots of math. . . .

My 8 yr old LOVES Mad Libs and they have become part of family game night. I never played these as a child (but I think Im the only person who hasn't) so I really like playing and these help with adjectives and grammer and spelling for kids as well. This dog edition was a must have since my daughter's favorite dog breed are pugs (though I dont know why).. Definitely worth the $3.00 and I will keep buying them from Amazon since Amazon Prime is my favorite way to buy.

I bought this for a family road trip so that we wouldn't get bored in the care. We were a group of 7 all over the age of 30 and we loved it! I'm glad that we had it since our 5 hr trip turned into a 10 hr trip. Just a fun, clean way to pass some time.

This book and "Another Brush with God" is okay but it's more suited for use in Mr. Pearson's workshops where you can have questions answered and live demonstrations. There's a lot of information missing that is needed. For instance there's no reference as to what kind of acrylic to be used. Is it tube or bottle acrylic? I bought it for information on painting icons in acrylic but found both of his books lacking in technical information. Nothing compares to egg tempera when painting icons and other subjects. "The Technique of Icon Painting" by Guillem Ramos-Poqui is excellent and what I first learned from. "Techniques of Icon and Wall Painting" by Aidan Hart is another excellent book and extensive. Koo Schadler also has an excellent book on egg tempera," Egg Tempera Painting: A Comprehensive Guide to Painting in Egg Tempera" and sells a kit of all you need to begin through www.trekell.com. Don't be afraid to try egg tempera, you can't get that look from any other medium.

I do not paint in acrylic, and I do not follow the rules of Russian iconography. Even so, I use this book. I'm sorry to say it, but the author's work is not my taste. Even so, I use this book. It gives good general instructions in iconography, as well as step-by-step instructions of particular projects. The three projects are Christ's head and shoulders (a somewhat simpler version of what is on the cover), Vladimir Mother of God, and St. Nicholas (not to worry-- he does not look at all like Santa). The projects include a line drawing you can trace and transfer to your board, color names of the paints needed, and maps of the layers of highlights used to give dimension to the figures. I use his book for general information, for the halo template and placement, and especially for the color-mixing recipes because the author likes to keep his colors transparent and does not lighten his colors with white except in the final highlight. He gives a list of supplies you will need, directions for preparing panels, color symbology of icons, and even a project for kids to make their own icon. He thoroughly discusses the spiritual aspects of painting icons and praying with them. I especially enjoyed his thoughts on how praying with the help of icons is not related to idolatry, any more than praying with words is idolatry: "Pictures and words are symbolic representations that help us connect with physical or spiritual reality; they're not the realities to which they point. Why, then, are verbal images so much more worthy than pictorial forms of bearing divine presence?" p. 62Where there does not seem to be enough information for the student of the traditional icon is in the placement of the figures relative to the positioning grid. I understand Russian icons must fall along particular diagonals. The author suggests students learn about these rules by tracing a print of an old icon. I would have liked for him to say more about how they are designed.

The first few chapters were engaging and talked about the significance and mystery of icons in both the corporate liturgical realm and that of the heart. Pearson does everything he can to convey to the reader how to prepare for icon writing in the historical context but then sadly, forgoes tradition for modern techniques that are not thoroughly explained for a nervous beginner.I should mention, that I come from the Antiochian Orthodox church and I find a few discrepancies in the historical context, but overall it's firm. Also I just don't see how this can be used effectively. Its lack of details is impractical for both those who want to pursue iconography professionally or even those young children that simply want to learn something new. The book come off as more of a lacking encyclopedia rather than a how to. The details provided are more lacking than even a simple google search would provide in a few clicks.If you want to do this traditionally Orthodox, this isn't the book for you. Yes, some do iconography in other manners, such as mixing small quantities of pigments with linseed oil (which is really just oil paints) on the day of and we aso accept printed copies glued onto fiberboard. Does this diminish our experience with God? I hope not. But are we not called to hold fast to the traditions of word and epistle? There is a beauty and joy in traditional icon work and I wish this book grasped that. That said, if Pearson could- I would recommend some serious additons so that children could enjoy it. More pictures including in progress ones, blending techniques, layering, brush work and methods, gesso type and more.For those wanting to do things in the eastern orthodox way, skip this and go for the prosopon DVD series. Also, a great supply list for egg tempera pigments can be found on Betsy porter's website. She also has a lot of great supply links. As for red clay bole I would use it either premixed or dispersed and added with Titebond hide glue and a drop of honey. Also, the agate burnishers here on amazon are a great deal.Anyhow, this is just my opinion.

Though I wish I could say I do, I admit that I have little in the way of artistic talent when it comes to painting. Hence I have been reluctant to even consider writing icons. To me, the beautiful thing about the way Peter+ teaches is not only the very approachable manner in which he leads a student, in a step by step manner, to writing an icon, but his emphasis on the contemplative prayer that icon writing actually is. I am very pleased with both of his books on this ancient practice of prayer. Thank you, Peter+ for making this available to those who seek to learn this practice.

I like the simplicity of the recipes. For example - flank steak with broccoli. Why do I need a recipe for that? Because, when I get home from work and just want to throw something in the oven, I don't have to do any math and calculate the macros - it's at the end of the recipe. Some recipes are more elaborate than that, but I like that they are not full of obscure ingredients - it's almost all whole, natural foods that any grocery store should have. Some of my keto cookbooks are so complicated; this one has recipes that seem like they could be in any cookbook.Tonight for dinner I made "Lemon Cream Tilapia Bake" and "Roasted Cauliflower and Broccoli." For the non-keto-ers in the family, I put less parmesan on their veggies, and a lot less cream sauce on their servings of tilapia. They all thought it was delicious and healthy and didn't complain that I was feeding them too much fat.

I could tell as soon as I started reading this cookbook that it would be good. The recipes are clearly laid our, and they highlight egg-free, nut-free, and dairy-free for those with special dietary needs. The only problem some people might have is that there are no pictures of the dishes. Each recipe has a graphic that shows how it's prepared... skillet, sheet pan, casserole, etc. That's a nice touch, but I know a lot of people complain if there are no photos. I've been cooking long enough that I can visualize the finished product pretty well, so lack of photos isn't an issue for me.Last night we made Sheet Pan Shrimp Fajitas. Prep was simple: peel the shrimp (make life easy, get shelled shrimp and all you have to do is take the tails off); chop the peppers and onion; get the oil, spices, and lime juice together. Dump everything into a large ziploc bag or a bowl (less cleanup with a bag, but a bit harder to mix) and mix it up. Pour into the sheet pan and bake. The shrimp came out perfectly, and the dish was really tasty. We're not completely keto so we put it on tortillas (don't tell Liz!), but you can use lettuce leaves to be completely legit.Tonight we made the Green Chile and Chicken Bake. It would be hard to find an easier recipe. Mix the sauce... the hardest part is opening the can of can of chiles. Pour it over the chicken, bake, and eat. Delicious? Yes! (My wife was happy that the recipe legitimized her desire to put hot sauce on everything.)This is a fantastic cookbook, and I've already got a list of more recipes to make from it. Buy this book!

There is a LOT to appreciate about this cookbook. I do have to say, if you aren’t familiar with Keto, it’s best to familiarize yourself with it or this may not be for you. Another review mentioned prior cholesterol issues and wasn’t sure how healthy these dishes should be, but you should consult your doctor prior to starting a full Ketogenic lifestyle, to ensure it’s for you.Alright, now for the good stuff!Pros:Liz did an amazing job at making this simple as possible. Everything from explaining basics of Keto, such as how your macronutrients are broken down, to things you should limit, things you should have and not have, and what items are best to keep on hand. I love that items are sectioned off by meats, dairy, salads, seafood, sweets and so on. The additional labeling on each recipe for vegetarian, dairy free, egg free, nut free, paleo and under 30 minutes is also an immense help. Sometimes on Keto, we get to enjoying dairy a bit too much and have to back off. This helps me know which ones are best for ME, at a glance. Micronutrient breakdown as well as “per serving” breakdown is great. Some of us are great about macro counting, which others choose not to do – this breakdown helps my OCD a little more. Now at a glance, I know what meal will get me to my end of day goals. Each recipe gives what type of vessel is best, and all I can think of is that I’m magically Alton Brown and he’s super proud of what I’m about to cook!These recipes are EASY and will help me stay on track. My family already loves the Keto meals that I cook, so this will be an even bigger help. I HAD to have the Kindle version so I could keep it up on my Kindle as I cooked, but I may do a hard copy as well because my 14 yr old daughter loves to cook and these are simple enough for her to do as well.It’s all about “at a glance” for me and this book is IT. I’ve been long anticipating this coming out and it was NOT a disappointment. Truth be told, chapters 9 and 10 might be my favorite! Keto-ers don’t eat a ton of sweets but knowing these delicious recipes are an option, makes Keto dessert guilt free. Hmmm. Read the reviews, half of them are akin to a third-grader's book report. "This book has many recipes to help you ..."I did pay for this book and was eager to try the recipes. Here are a few thoughts:Vegetable Lasagna - zucchini sliced into tongues to replace pasta noodles. With no other vegetables except a bit of marinara sauce, this was extremely bland. How about some garlic? How about some herbs? Could we possibly put our zucchini tongues on a pan in the oven to remove some moisture so the finished product isn't swimming at the end?Bacon: yes there is a recipe to make bacon, but is it really a recipe if you do nothing but cook it and eat it?Chocolate chip cookie skillet: Confession- did not make as recipe instructed. Cup of almond flour plus half cup COCONUT flour, and the only liquid is an egg? I think not. If you're not a rookie low carber, you already know that a half cup of coconut flour is a huge amount and needs liquid. Rather than waste expensive ingredients to try this (perhaps it WOULD have worked! Maybe. Or not) I scanned the internet's offering of similar recipes and made a different version of said cookie.I look at this cookbook as a collection of IDEAS, and will try more of the recipes (always prepared to wing it as necessary). After all, sometimes we just want someone to tell us what's for dinner!

I ordered this calendar early and I really love it. I can't wait to put it up in my office. I have to use a small calendar as I don't have room for a larger one. This is just what I wanted. Great little calendar and I love the messages!

As pretty a calendar as I have ever seen. Just wish there were a skosh bigger version, maybe 8"x8" or 8.5x8.5?Itwould be more suitable for wall mounting.
